  • Paragon prop. info.

I'm trying to identify a prop!
Here's what I got. any help would be much appreciated.
    114' long
    Hub has 8 holes
    Hole is 3"
    Entire hub is 11.5 inches
    1361 stamped on hub
F.O.R. stamped on hub with a symbol or rotation, not sure.
Paragon label, made in Balt. Md. on prop.
    Thanks, John

Likely for a Liberty engine, maybe for a Navy flying boat. See if two of the bolt holes farthest apart are 8" from each other (center to center).

    Got a picture?

It certainly looks like a Liberty engine hub, the bolt hole circle is the right size, and the stampings are USN with the anchor insignia. I don't know what "FCR" indicates, but it is stamped on a number of other props like yours. Can you post a picture of the entire prop? I'm guessing it looks a lot like this one, although it may not have been used on the same type of aircraft.

The shape suggests it is a design of the Englishman Dashwood Lang, lent to the USN in 1917 by the British Admiralty to advise on the mass production of aircraft props. This in turn suggests that this prop dates from 1917 and was made for the USN. Dave's prop is also a Lang design.

            With kind regards,

            Bob

              paragon prop

              Hi Bob,
Thank you so much for the info. Would you with any certainty know what plane this prop. would have been on? It would be nice to have a picture of a plane to go along with the prop. Thanks again, John.
