  • Can anyone help identify?

I found this propeller in my grandfather's barn and was wondering about restoring it but not really sure if it would decrease the value if it were to be sold in the future or what I should be restoring it to.

It's got 8 bolt holes, approx. 7' in length.

    Not much to go on.

Can you make out the numbers? How about a photo of the entire prop?

Yeah, the pics I posted previously were the only identifying marks I could find. I'd love to sand it and stain it but don't want to ruin it with the wrong colour or style.

It's much more valuable as is. Can you make out the numbers? (I can't tell from the photos, and sometimes you have to move the light source around to decipher them.)

To me, it looks like H (unknown) 237 on one side.
70 A on the other side

It's hard to identify. I'd keep it in its present condition and if you're anxious to refinish one try to find one that's already been refinished and play with that.

You won't increase its value by refinishing, and if it turns out to fit something noteworthy or rare you'll definitely regret doing anything to it.
