  • Possible Curtiss H8 propeller

Propeller has a decal setting Matthews With wings and propeller with Hamelton on wings. The propeller is stamped Matthews Bros MFG Co, N04147, 8’8”,LP401E,H8-1. It is in original condition. Undamaged except the varnish is crazed and has many dark spots. What is it and what is it’s value

  • #2
It's clearly stamped for the Curtiss H8, which was a relatively insignificant prototype version in a series of flying boats developed by the Navy in the late teens to early twenties. Matthews Bros. made a number of props for a variety of aircraft during that time frame.

Value cannot be determined without knowing its actual condition, which requires either direct examination or high quality photos.
