  • I collect British WW1 Prop decals!

A note to let fellow forumites know that I have collected WW1 prop decals for a number of years.

I have a collection of photographs of about 200 or so, which were taken initially to illustrate the six books I have written on each of British WW1 and German WW1 aircraft propellers.

And a small collection of about thirty real decals, both British and German, which are on single blades, sections of props, and wooden items such as boxes made from prop wood.

So, if you have any interesting decals of this type for sale, please let me know.

And if you have a photographic collection of British, French or German WW1 decals let me know in case we can both increase and improve our photographic records.

    With kind regards,

    Bob Gardner

I'm pleased that you've been doing this, Bob, and that you continue to add to your extensive collection.

As a long time collector, I've come to appreciate the decals almost as much as the props themselves. I look at some of them as symbols of the artistic interest and pride in the design and manufacture of early propellers in particular.

Exactly so Dave! Me too. I love exploring the artistic trends, particularly in Germany at the end of art nouveau and the beginning of art deco and Jugendstil art.
