Default Can anyone help? S&S

I was working at a home (im a plumber) and the owner asked me if i wanted a wooden propeller. Its an S & S with these markings:

SER.R. 2278
D 88
F ??75 (?=unreadable)
DEC. 1942

Any info is appreciated.

I'm not at home but I'm nearly certain that's from an Airspeed Oxford or similar twin engined plane. It's a very commonly found model.

If he's giving it away, take it - and post pics of its condition.
