Default Wooden propeller fabric-covered 274cm long/108inches

Dear experts!,

We have had a wooden propeller in our barn for as long as I can remember. The images are attached.
I would be interested in your views on its vintage and what aircraft you feel it may have been created for.
It is 274cm/108 inches long, fabric covered, 8 bolt holes.
Markings are as per images:
100 HP MONO
DR LP 710 c
D 2 740
Thanks!

Thank you for your interesting email.

Your propeller is of French design made under licence by the British Government during WW1. Many were made by the firm Ruston Proctor. It was made for the 100 HP Gnome Monosoupape aircraft engine, the 100hp French engine which has only one valve, hence the word MONO, a shortened version of Monosoupape

DR LP 710 c The drawing number of the propeller which was used on three types of aircraft, the Avro 504K, the de Havilland DH5 and the Sopwith Pup.

D 2 740 the diameter of the prop 2740mm.

The British Government paid 19-2s-8d for each prop. Each contract was for 100 propellers.

With kind regards,

Bob Gardner
