  • Helice Legere, Licence Schwarz

    Hi,
does anyone have more information about this wooden propeller? It is about 216cm long, and pictures of labels are attached (Helice Legere Licence Schwarz, and serial number HL2171, No. 109).
Would be interesting to know which aircraft it might have been used for.
Any tips on where to get more info also appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Mina

    Hi,

It is a prop from the late 40' or the early 50's.
I saw the same prop (Légère HL2171) with the number 102 on sale on eBay France in April 2013 for 590€ (no bid) then in June with a 490€ start price. I don't know if it was sold because I was not interested.
This prop was for a SUC-10 Courlis with a Mathis 8RG engine (190 HP). If yours is for the same aircraft, it have to be a second brass plate with:
    SUC 10
    MATH 8RG
    and the Veritas Bureau stamp.
It is a pusher prop and you have some infos about the aircraft there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SECAN_Courlis

I think Schwarz was the licensed owner for the glass fiber protection.

    Regards,
    PM
