  • Need Help with Propeller ID and Info

I am looking for help ID the manufacturer and/or any information i.e. year it was made, what type of plane it was on, etc. Details are as follows:
    Length 86"
    Bolt holes 8
    # at bottom of hub 10
    # at top of hub 165
    # at top of hub first begins with 165 (and is incomplete) then an metal plate and under it there is an incomplete sequence of letters under under the metal plate that include the letter AIR
Not sure what the purpose of the metal plate is

It looks to me as if it's been fairly heavily "altered" from its original condition, and it almost looks like someone deliberately added semicircles over the original letters or numbers.

I'm not sure about the metal plate.

The design is very common and probably reflects usage from as early as the 30s to the present. I think based on the 86" props (those with design numbers beginning with "86") on this listing it's mostly likely for a Fairchild aircraft, although there is no way to really substantiate that supposition.
