  • Inherited this Old Prop...

I actually found this when we cleaned out my grandfathers house after he passed away. It was wrapped in an old wool Army blanket on a shelf in a store room.

So I've been looking into it a little. From the serial #, it seems to be a military prop from WWII from a PT-19/26. Grandfather was an army solider in Italy during the entire deployment in WWII. He did tell stories of "horse trading" as he was somehow related to the Quartermaster corps or something.

Can anyone tell me much more about this? Is it worth hanging on to? It appears to have never been installed and has cosmetic dents and dings from the 70-odd years of sitting around.

    Thanks!

Yes, the "43K" prefix identifies it as a military contract from 1943. The civilian designation was 86RA61, so you can see all of the applicable aircraft for that design number on this page.

That's a very nice prop in what appears to be excellent condition, including the older style Lititz decals. Is the gray hashed part of the hub photo just light artifact?

No; I had obscured the serial number in this pic as I had sent it on to someone who was skeptical about the condition and model # of the prop.

Yes, it's worth hanging on to. Don't worry about the dents and dings, but be sure not to try to "repair" them.
