Help in Identifying a propeller

I have a small (42 inch) wooden propeller manufactured by U.S. Propellers, Inc. The other information markings are DES 42R, Ser 21276, 15088 - 42. I bought this for a relative who just got his Wings as a Marine pilot but I am wondering if this propeller was for anything that flew or for something else. Any information will be appreciated.
