  • Boomerang Propeller ID

I bought another propeller today it is 2400mm long and the hub is 225mm high and 150mm deep with 8 bolt holes

    It is marked

    ARVO X
    "BOOMERANG"

on the other side it is stamped

    D 7" 10"
    P 5" 2"
    H 191

    T or F

It has a decal in the shape of a boomerang with the name -

    HODGE & DOSE LTD
    MAKERS
    SYDNEY NSW

Here is a link to one that is at the Powerhouse Museum (Australias foremost technical museum).

    http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/coll...se/?irn=241617

They say the museum one is 70mm longer - but it could be a mistake.

Im not sure where they get the "Faith In Australia" from.

Chances are this is off an Australian Plane - any ideas anyone?

The prop is a little rough but it still has its canvas. Thankfully it has not been bastardized. I probably paid too much but I couldnt resist grabbing an Australian made prop

Your prop appears to be from an Avro X (aka Avro 10 or Ten) tri-motor airliner. Australian National Airways was among the operators of these airplanes, and there are several good photographs available on the internet (using Google Images, etc.). There are even some good views of the propellers of the Avro X posted on Flickr.

By the way, "Faith in Australia" refers to a specific Avro X that was originally operated by ANA and became an important part of Australia's aviation history. More detailed information regarding that aircraft is available online.

      Arvo 10 prop

      Thanks Aerobeacons for your infomation.

I cant find much info on the Arvo 10 - it is not even listed in the Arvo history.

I did find a couple of pictures of Charles Ulms "faith in Australia"

Any other info anyone has would be much appreciated

          Boomerang Propeller

          Hi Chris,

I sold the prop to a antique dealer friend who then sold it to a relative of the manufacturer. Perhaps it was someone related to you.

I can contact him if you like as he may have better photos.

The powerhouse also have one - see this link

          http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/coll...se/?irn=241617

I will PM you my phone number so you can contact me if you want.

          Regards,

          Adrian.
