  • Need Help Identifying

    I have modern wooden propeller that i would like some help identifying. I have include some pictures and i will do my best to describe the markings but i apologize if i use the wrong terminology. The propeller has the following markings.

    SER W 2394 and SS-SS 220D are on opposite sides of the eight bolt hub

    D-85
    P 61
    Ranger 6.440.C5
    May 1943
    is located on the underside of the hub

    I would also like your help and suggestions with the best way to restore this propeller.

    First of all, there is virtually no value in "restoring it". It has original decals and is in reasonably good shape. You can do nothing to increase its value, and it will lose value considerably the minute you try. See Bob Gardner's note about early propellers, as the same principles still apply.

    I've seen that same propeller (same drawing number) but can't for the life of me remember what we determined that it was likely used for. I'll look through some old files when I get a chance and see if I can find something. Seems to me that there was a propeller with the same drawing number that also had the aircraft stamped on it.
