  • HELP NEEDED TO IDENTIFY WHAT MY US PROPELLER INC PROP WAS ON

    I have had this propeller for many years and since discovering this very informative and interesting site would like to gain some information and knowledge about my much loved propeller.

    MAKER - US PROPELLERS INC
    MATERIAL-WOOD
    MARKINGS-DES 70C 54
    SER 16070
    PROP DIA - 70 inches
    CENTER HOLE DIA - 2 1/4 in
    HUB THICKNESS - 3 1/4 in
    6 BOLT HOLES
    BOLT HOLE DIA 6/16''
    BOLT HOLES CIRCLE - 5 1/4 in
    BOLT HOLES - 2 HOLES HORIZONTAL AT TOP OF HUB. 2 HOLES HORIZONTAL AT BOTTOM OF HUB. 1 HOLE EACH SIDE CENTER OF HUB.
    MARKING ON REAR OF HUB - 16070

    THE WOOD IS A BEAUTIFUL GOLDEN BROWN COLOUR.
    THERE IS 4 PIECES OF WOOD LAMINATED.
    THE LEADING EDGES HAVE METAL STRIPS THAT RUN 3/4 THE LENGTH OF THE BLADE TO THE TIPS.
    THE TIPS HAVE A YELLOW MATERIAL COVERING THE ENDS.
    THE BLADE HAS BEEN USED AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE MARKS ON THE LEADING EDGES.

    THE ROUND US PROPELLERS INC LOS ANGELES CALIF LABEL WITH THE STAR AND LETTERS US ARE ON THE FORWARD SIDE OF THE BLADES. COLOUR YELLOW OUTER CIRCLE, BLUE INNER CIRCLE, RED STAR AND YELLOW CENTER CIRLE WITH BLUE LETTERS.
    CAN YOU HELP WITH THE YEAR OF MANUFACTURE AND WHAT TYPE OF AIRCRAFT AND ENGINE WAS THE PROPELLER FITTED TO. ALSO ANY IDEA OF VALUE. 8 OUT OF 10 FOR CONDITION. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

    Unfortunately, no one seems to have yet come up with a list of U.S. Propellers, Inc. drawing numbers correlated to aircraft usage. I do have it listed as built under Type Certificate # TC752 designed to be used on a 75 HP engine, but there were numerous aircraft, mostly trainers, that could have used that engine.

      Thank you Dave for this information. Could the propeller have been on a 1943 INTERSTATE L-6 or similar around that year.
