  • Curious on a unique find.

I had recently stopped by my parents farm for a visit when i came across a propeller wing (or half of one (1) blade in all) It was stashed behind a false wall in their old gambrel style barn. Now mind you i am not a collector of propeller wings, but as soon as i laid my hands on this i really wanted to know more. So this is what i know from the looks of it about the propeller.
There is a logo on the blade with the name Freedman Burnham Engineering Corporation out of Cincinnati, Ohio.
It has a brass plate along the leading edge.
It is not in mint shape but i would rate it a 6/10 from a scale of 1-10.
I looked up the pantent number that is stamped on it and it came up as being accepted in 1941.
With further investigation i found that i may have a model PX 203.
So with the little bit of info i have shared, would this propeller be a collectors item or valuable in any way? Im not looking for a quik buck but i was curious to know.
    Any help would be great!
Thanks for any post ahead of time!

I don't think at face value that it's worth a whole lot. First of all, it's only part of whole assembly and it would be worth more if the rest of it is there. Secondly, it's not that old or that rare and the demand for that type is fairly low, IMHO. Finally, it's likely not airworthy, so its value would be as a display propeller rather than a serviceable aircraft part.

I don't collect them from that era, but you can see some on this web site and I believe there is some contact info there to link to the owner (and collector), who is more familiar with constant speed props.
