  • Nippon Gakki/Yamaha propellor identification

Gidday from New Zealand. I recently purchased a vintage propellor from an antique store. It has the Yamaha triple tuning forks emblem and a number of Japanese stamp impressions on the hub. I don’t yet have any sharp images of it but thought I’d post the ones that I have. It has a diameter of 2.55 metres/8’ 4”.
The Yamaha museum has one of these props in their collection.
Does anyone have any useful information about this old prop?

    Hi,

It looks like a very good copy of a Ratier propeller of the 30's !!!

A readable paper (1st pic) and large pics of the shielding and of the 4 (FOUR) sides of the hub could help. Try to give very accurate measurements : hub diameter and thickness, size of the central hole, size of the bolts circle, ...

    Regards, PM

The leading edge strip is identical to the Yamaha museum example. The propellor is currently between Auckland and Christchurch with a furniture mover. I expect to see it in a week or so. I’ll then be able to get better photos of the hub and its exact dimensions.
      Cheers!
