  • Found in my father's back porch after he died...what airplane is it from?

My father died December 2019. He was a 94 year old WWII RCAF vet (Lancaster Air Gunner).

He was fairly well destitute (had a $200K mortgage and a $100K credit line on his $250K house) as his only friends were a couple 60 year old women he met at the casino who he took out for dinners and paid their gambling debts.

I had to pay for burying him and got nothing out of his estate except for his military medals and this old wooden propellor - it is hanging up in my basement workshop. He told me he got it during the war, and claimed it was from a Spitfire (which I doubt).

Any idea what the provenance is? What type of airplane it came from?

    Many thanks, Dave.

It's a surplus propeller for one of the WW2 trainers. There should be a design number stamped on it, and that might lead to identification of the plane it was designed for. Many of these were for an Avro Anson, but there were other models.
