  • Modern propeller ID

I've searched the net a couple of times trying to find info on a wooden prop (manufacturer, date range of manufacture, what aircraft it may have been used on, etc) but not having much luck.

Info stamped on hub: MODEL CF 85 44
    SERIAL 2585
    TC 849 PC2
    Hub is 6 bolt, 6 1/4" diameter, 3 3/8" thick, 2 1/4" bore.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is the length of the prop from tip to tip?

The number sequence isn't familiar but that doesn't mean it can't be narrowed down by its Type Certificate ("TC") number 849. I'll have to look through some other files, and I'm just guessing that its length is 85 inches.

I can't find that Type Certificate number in any of my references.

Are the tips intact or does it appear that they were cut down? Typically "85 CF 44" would denote an 85 inch prop with a 44 inch pitch, and the "CF" would describe either the hub style or the engine.

The tips and leading edges are metal covered and don't appear to have been altered or repaired. Puzzling.

A picture might help, but I'm afraid this might be a dead end for positive identification.
