  • Clarification on 'DRG' meaning

    Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for some clarification on what 'DRG' means. A manufacturer possibly?

Inscription on propeller is as follows:

    DRG. – LA.591/5
    D. – 7.33.FT.
    P. – 6.96.FT.
    CHEETAH.X.
    L.H.T
    N.905.

Thanks to the great information on this site I've been able to understand what all of this means however I'm still unsure of 'DRG' meaning and is the 'N.905' meant to mean that its the 905th propeller made? Or does have another meaning.

    Cheers. Tom

    EDIT: Answer found.

DWG - "drawing" number, referring to the blueprint from which the propeller was manufactured. (Also stamped as "DG" or "DRG")

Correct. And considering that there were thousands of drawings created for all sorts of propellers, few if any of the original blueprints seem to have survived. That's a problem for anyone wishing to re-manufacture a propeller to its original specifications.

Newer U.S. manufactured propellers more typically are stamped "DES" for "design", but that too refers to a blueprint from which the propeller was manufactured.
