  • Help IDing G. B. Lewis

I recently came across some of my Great-Grandpa's items. He owned an old Texaco Station and had this prop hanging on a wall, unfortunately...he passed when I was only a kid, so I don't remember much of him. None of my family knew anything about this prop, it was handed down to me because I'm into aviation.

The prop I have is really small, it's just 34 inches, the last 1.5 inches of each blade is coated red, the "hub" is 3" 5/8s. As far as the info printed on it, it has LEWIS written inside of a black box with small letters "Trade Mark". On the Hub it says "G. B. LEWIS CO. DES. L7-1-48G SER. 3864"

Sorry, but I can't get a pic yet.

Thanks guys, I would like to know if this is junk, or it's a real keepsake.

I'm guessing that it's a little of both, a keepsake because it belonged in your family but relative junk with respect to collectibility. I think all of the L7 series designs were Type Certificate 866 and were all between 70 and 74 inches in length, which would mean that yours has had the tips cut down, usually from damage from a crash.
