What have I got here?

Hello,

Can anyone help me with this propeller ID. I was recently asked to sell it, and am considering it since it has just sat in my basement for the past 30+ years, but I have no inkling as to it's rarity or what it can be worth.

The numbers read:
D 85
P 61
RANGER 6.44.C.5
JAN ? 1943 (I think it is JAN 4)

There are also letters and numbers on either side of the center part,
SS_SS.220.D
S?.R.W.1357

Any info would be greatly appreciated,

I don't know exactly what plane it was designed for, but the S&S propellers are surprisingly common, most of them having never been mounted and subsequently sold off as surplus.

I'm not aware of any specific listing of models, but you can search through past threads here and you may find similar examples. I've seen them sell on eBay for around $500 to $700 but have never seen one sell at an exceptionally high price.
