Hello and thanks for a great website.
I have a US Propeller Inc. prop with the serial number of 8869 and I was wondering if you could ID the plane and year it was made. Let me know if you need additional information.

US Propellers made a lot of different propellers, many of which were drone props, but they also made some certificated ones. They can be hard to identify, and certainly can't be identified by serial number alone. How long is it and are there any other markings? A photo might help.

Well, it looks like a certificated aircraft propeller. No other numbers or letters?

So I checked on another list for US Propellers, Inc. There is no model number of 8869 but they did make several 6' 4" propellers. There should be a model number stamped somewhere, but even with that it might be hard to match it to and airplane/engine specifically.

That's the serial number. The model number is the "DES 5726-62" and 62 is probably the pitch, in inches. It was made for a 65 HP engine, likely a Continental, Lycoming, Franklin, etc. which were the engines commonly used on a variety of 2 seat trainers such as Piper Cubs, Taylorcraft, Aeroncas, etc. etc.

I'll try to look that number up when I get back home in a few days. There isn't a published list of production dates for US Propellers, but there may be a footnote on that model that puts it into a certain range of dates.

"TO 762" is likely "TC 762" and refers to its Type Certificate number.

I remind people to think of these propellers much like tires. Lots of them were made for multiple vehicles, look similar to each other with different model numbers, and were frequently replaced as they wore out or were damaged.
