  • Heine propeller

    Hello,

    I own a Heine propeller from a 300 HP Hispano engine. Identification D250 H 210.

Who can tel me from which aircraft it comes from?

Unfortunately it has been varnished very ugly and it has a damaged blade tip. I want to restore it, without loosing it's historic value. I'm a A&P mecanic, but I've little experience with wood. Who wants to advise me?

    Start here.

Keep in mind that once someone has hacked up a propeller before you, it's OK to keep hacking it up. It will never be original again anyway, no matter what you do.

More of these propellers have surfaced in the Netherlands with serial numbers a bit below 38000. Could it be from a Fokker C.IV? They had Hispano engines. However I believe they were 350 hp, not 300. The Fokker D.XI did have the 300 hp Hispano 8F, but it was exclusively built for export and judging by photos the propeller is a different shape.

Jan does your prop have brass tips? If so, the source could be a float plane.

PS. This post should really be moved to the early propellers forum as this prop is from 1918 or only slightly later.
