  • Another Sensenich Prop

I've come across a Sensenich wooden propeller and have done a little investigating through the Sensenich website, but in talking to someone at the company, they had no record of this prop.

The serial number is W6646. From their website, this seems to indicate that it was maunfactured between September of 1962 and November of 1964.

The other number on the prop is 74FKL46. The 74 I understand is the diameter in inches. The FK designates certain design features and the L46 has to do with the pitch.

The person at Sensenich said he hadn't seen the combination of the letters FKL, and neither did his boss who has been in the business over 30 years.

I'm interested in finding out what aircraft the prop is for (and any interested facts) and what it's worth. I was told that the same series or model of prop was still be manufactured and sells for $1,700.

    Thanks for any information.

    Rich,

There are quite a few Sensenich propeller models with that drawing number minus the "L", which Sensenich's catalog states was used to describe one with left hand rotation. See this page on Lamar's site for a list of aircraft using the 74FK prefixed props, including 74FK46 used on the Commonwealth using a Continental 85 HP engine.

Does yours in fact have a left hand rotation? If so it might have been a special order item to use as a pusher with that engine. I'm really just guessing though.
