  • Flottorp Prop OX5

Hi all, new to the forum.

I have a Flottorp OX5 57(102) prop which has sn 1809. 6 inch hub with eight holes with original hub plates and bolts with nuts. The hub also has the original hub nuts. The prop is 100 inches in length. As you can see from the pics, it has not been touched since removal from the plane.

The label on both blades says "Flottorp" "Grand Rapids Michigan" "Both Blades Alike". The copper leading edges both have engraved "FLOTTORP G R Mich" in the copper.

This prop has hung on the wall for over 40 years. Just wondering on what equipment it was mounted, probably a Curtiss engine, but do not know much else. Would like to know approximate value.

    Thanks, Dan

It's almost certainly an OX5 engine, which powered a number of aircraft, the Jenny being the most widely known, but I don't think that anything in the information you have on it will tell us what specific aircraft or aircraft type it went on, including some more recent ones like a Waco, for instance.

As for value, hard to say, but I do think that the hub assembly adds to it, although I'm not sure what the current demand for OX5 hubs actually is. I'd love to have one if it ever gets sold separately. I'm just guessing that yours would sell for something in the $1000 to $1200 range on eBay, but that's not much more than a wild guess.

      Thanks Dave.

      Does the 57(102) mean anything?
