  • Prop ID Help

Hello, I'm new to the forum and thank you in advance for any help.

Something very nice has happened to me recently and it involves a wooden propeller. I was a flight instructor about 10 years ago and was recently contacted by an old student. He came across a prop that his dad had in his basement. He offered it up to me and it now hangs on my wall.

I am told that the prop was in service during WW2 on an Avro Anson.

The markings on the prop read,

    S&S Aircraft Limited Winnipeg
    DRG.200.D.
    Dia 88
    Fit 75
    July 1942
    SER.R.156
    A6114

There are some other markings, but the characters are illegible,
    OXF_VO
    CHEFT_H

Any help identifying what these markings mean or any info on the prop would be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Tom

Greetings Tom and welcome to the forum.

Your prop is from a RCAF Airspeed Oxford that was powered by two AW Cheetah radial engines. It was used as a trainer, a flying classroom for navigators and wireless ops, often with the Commonwealth Training Scheme that taught British and Commonwealth aircrew in the safer skies over Canada during WW2.

    With kind regards,
