Another S&S

Hello,
I've had a S&S prop in my possession for quite some time now. Its in excellent condition, never restored and no cracks. I picked it up at a local auction for $25 in 1995. Now, I have done some research on the S&S props and find most of them were stamped with ANSON on their hub. However mine has RANGER stamped on it. My question is, does the ranger stand for the Ranger engine that was in the Cornell or was there a Ranger airplane? The following info is stamped on the hub

P
RANGER 6.44QC5
JUNE 1943

and on the front of blades near the hub
SSSS 22OD and SER.W2689

It shows evidence of actually being mounted on an aircraft...leading edge nicks and dings as well as some silver paint on the mounting side of the hub.

Any info or lead contacts on this prop would be great!

I've been meaning to try to look through the skimpy S&S data that's currently available. They made a lot of propellers but most were for just a few models, most common being the Avro Anson. I'll see if I can figure out if that drawing number matches a known Anson when I get home next week.
