could anyone help identify the plane that this prop was used on and the approximate year it was made? The prop is 91" long,6&1/2" wide,4&1/2" thick at the hub, the dia. of the bolt circle is 5&1/4" & has 8 bolt. stamp on the hub is Design 504 Serial No 12557 & Hartzell, Piqua, Ohio.

I don't see it listed on any of Hartzell's available lists, but my best guess is that it was used on an OX5 engine in the thirties or so, based primarily on its size and the hub dimensions. There were a lot of airplanes that could fit that bill, however, and since the drawing number isn't listed, the possibility that it was a low production model of some kind is fairly high.Dave
