  • I have a WW1 propeller. I would like to ID

    Hello,

    I found a WW1 propeller in my grandmother's house.
The markings on the propeller read. What kind of airplane ? Date ?
This prop comes from the region of Chimay in Belgium.

    178 PS
    MERCE
    D278
    H215 (ST215 ??? it's a lot I find )
    HEINE
    N28 70

With this information, I think for : Albatros DVa or Junkers CLI or Pfalz D XII ??? (german fighter with Mercedes 180 hp).
In this region, there was in particular with this aircraft Jasta 6 (Sivry) and Jasta 24 (Donstiennes). Other ????

If you can help I would appreciate it.

    Good Bye.

ps : I am not certain that she comes from WWI !

    Nice find.

It looks like WW1 era, partly due to the absence of metal sheathing and absence of decals in lieu of the Heine stamp in the wood. I don't know what aircraft it was designed for, but the stampings do indicate the 180 (17 HP Mercedes. The diameter should measure 278 cm, and the pitch would be 215 cm.

      Hi,

I think we have answered this query before?

The most likely aircraft with this engine, diameter and pitch is the Pfalz D XII from 1918. A Fokker D VII is also possibility but the Heine serial number is wrong for this aircraft.

      With regards,

        hello,

        Thank you for your answer.

The serial number on the prop is probably N28570. Have you a photo of the prop of Pfalz DXII or this aircraft ?
