Wooden prop, fixed pitch, located in Denmark, it is 240 cm long with metal on the leading edges each about a foot long. There are two circular symbols but they are hard to read, they are silver in color and appear to be a c shape and a birdwing superimposed on one another, with words/letters: patent, bsodg, dr, grale. On the hub is what appears to be the serial number 315. Thanks,

The decal is a Chauviere:



The Series number for Chauviere should be 4 or 5 digits, and 315 doesn't show up on lists of Chauviere propellers.

Thanks a lot, we will have the overseas players look at the hub in greater detail. From the data you have so far, any ideas as to type of plane (based on size of prop) and origin based on that the manufacturer had English, French and German connections?

Well, I think the propeller is French built, but beyond that the aircraft is anyone's guess. Most of these look just like lots of other ones, so you really need the series number to have any hope of identifying it.

I could look up all the Chauviere propellers that are 240 cm in diameter, but that won't narrow it down an awful lot.

Also, the metal sheathing may be a retro-fit of some kind. Most of the original WW1 era Chauvieres were just clad in cloth at the tips.
