  • Help identifying chauvier propellor

A friend has a propeller which I think may be from an Airco DH1 but it does not exactly match the description on the Forum site. The main difference is that it is 9ft 6inhes rather than 9 ft 1inch. It also has six holes on the hub but looks as if it once had eight and has been redrilled. On the centre of the hub are the numbers 39 and 569 and on the side AID66 in a rectangle with 3311 beneath.
The badge has the inscription: The Integral Propeller Co Ltd with British Made below. I hope the photo's help.
My friend's uncle flew aircrafts in Egyptin WW1, he thinks.
Any help on its identification and possible value would be great.
    It is in lovely condition.

    Boreda,

Your prop is certainly early WW1, probably 1915. A diameter of around 2900mm made by IPC at this time suggests a prop from a Maurice Farman powered by a Renault engine of 70, 75 or 80hp.

The most likely drawing number is IPC69. Might your nos 39 or 569 be IPC69?

The number AID66 is the stamp of the airworthiness inspector who passed it fit.

I don't have any diameter or pitch listed for the DH1. If you have please let me know.

    With regards,

Oh! Forgot about value. Probably about 1000 GBP at auction. It's insurance value is 2000 GBP.

          Colin,

Let me know what you discover. (My mum was Welsh speaking and I went to university at Aber, although all my childhood was in Lancashire.)
