I have recently purchased an old wooden propeller. It appears for the illustrations on this website that it might be from a J1 Standard.
It is 8'-45/16" long, has a hub bore of 23/4", has 8 1/2" bolt holes and is approximately 10 1/4" at it's widest point. The width of the hub is 4 1/4" and the with of the hub is 7 7/8". The copper cladding at the tips is nailed to the prop, not rivited, and the back side of the cladding on each tip has 31 weep holes. I believe the wood is Black Walnut, and it has the number 29902 on one side of the copper. It appears that this number was put on with a rubber stamp.
I was told the original owner stated the prop came off a Navy trainer.
The propeller is original, and not refinished in manner.
Does anyone have an idea about the age, aircraft type is was used on, the engine used? Any estimate on it value?
Thank you for any assistance in this matter !!
