  • Identification Help - Very Unique Old Propeller Found in Barn

    Hello,

I found this old propeller in a barn in New England, it doesn't seem to have any writing on it. It's made from one light piece of wood, and only has 4 bolt holes for the motor mount. The way the lacquer has cracked and aged makes me think this is quite old & also that it was used. But interested to hear feedback from you folks!

It measures 72 inches / 6 ft from tip to tip.

It may be old, but it's probably not identifiable, nor particularly valuable.

Thanks for the feedback! Worst case I’ll use it as art in my little homestead. Any idea what someone might be willing to pay on eBay?

I don't know, but one strategy is to just hold on to it with a hope that someone will show up with convincing evidence of its provenance - but I think that's also unlikely.

This probably isn’t what you want to hear but I’ll stick my neck out here and say that the small centre hole, four bolt holes and one piece construction (rather than laminated) suggest to me that this is not an aircraft propeller; more likely it is a fan, probably with an agricultural purpose.
