  • Sopwith Camel F1

I recently bought this beautiful example of a Sopwith Camel F1 propeller. With my limited knowledge, I understand the Admiralty design number AD644 specific to the Sopwith Camel but wondering about the G and N number.
Also, compare to my other propellers, It’s not obvious as to whom was the manufacturer but perhaps it did have decals at some point.
Anyway, any more information people may have would be greatly appreciated.

The "G" and "N" numbers are production numbers. Bob Gardner, who was a frequent poster here, was able to correlate those with dates of production but not design, although yours has everything you need to know about identifying its usage. It's a beautiful example of WW1 era craftsmanship and design. A good find no matter what.

The drawing number "AD 644" indicates the "Air Department, Admiralty " owned the production rights for the design.
