Sorry to hijack this question
Hi, I'm new to this forum so apologise if I am using it wrongly.
I had the opportunity yesterday of viewing (and touching) a wooden propeller from a Spitfire. Apart from being a lot smaller than I expected I was in absolute awe. My question is 'does anyone know what the marks RS/11/54 mean, please?' They were stamped in to the boss (which now has a clock mounted on it).
I would love to know more about the aircraft and may be who flew it. I have found that it must have been one of the first 77 produced as the propeller is only one piece i.e. two blades (thank you history.org).
