Identifying WWI prop

I believe I read once that Clerget engines purchased by the RNAS and RFC from France came with three propellers as part of the package. Is this distant memory likely to be correct Pierre-Michel?

Sorry, but I don't know!

There was (at least) 4 types of propellers approved for Nieuport XVII and XVIIbis using Clerget engines in France:
- Éclair serial 2 (Clerget 110 HP),
- Levasseur serial 455 (Clerget 110 HP),
- Levasseur serial 502 and, later, serial 802 (Clerget 130 HP).
As for the end of 1917, there was no Régy made prop approved for Nieuport XVII nor XVIIbis with Clerget engine. But it is possible:
- Régy licensed an English constructor,
- Régy, or a subcontractor, sold propeller in England (or to Clerget for export) without having them approved in France.

What is your source for the prop numbers? I only some of those numbers, thanks to a Nieuport brochure that helpfully lists a few of them, but others are new to me, and I am interested in compiling a listing for as many Nieuports as possible. I have Eclair 4 and Levasseur 484 propellers for the 17.

I don't think there is such a thing. I gathered most of my data on British props from the British National Archives in London, and most of my German data came from numerous Idflieg documents at the Deutches Technik Museum Berlin.

I haven't been on this thread in some time... but I was excited to see some follow up information on my propeller.

Very cool to learn it was on a Nineuport 17bis for the Royal Naval Air Service--thank you for the updated information!
