  • WWI Seaplane propeller id needed!

My grandfather was a pilot both in Texas during the Mexican skirmish (1910?), and WWI he was called up and stationed in Essington PA, where there is a seaplane base.

We have this propeller from him, with these markings. Can you help identify it?

My research brought up a Curtiss JN?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I can't read the markings from the photo. Can you write them down?

May as well show a picture of the entire prop if you can. Not much to go on yet . . .

      As far as I can tell, it says - S.F. D (or B?) O (0r 6 or 8?) E (or F?) unreadable, then 71. Next line T. M., next 2, next B unreadable 5.

Still not much to go on, and the picture doesn't even make it clear what direction of rotation it is.

Closest I might GUESS is that the "SF" might actually be "SE", which would be a start. It might be followed by "995 - 71", but that's a guess as well.

The last numbers look like they refer to a length of 8 feet and a pitch of 5 feet, so it should measure 8 feet in length. It's a little too short for a JN4.
