    Need help in identifying age and plane of wooden prop. 9'6" in length with 8 bolt holes, hub diamter is approx 11" with a 3.25" diamter hole. Red and tan decals read "WESTMOORE" and the following stamped:

    On the left: No. 5243
    R.9.

    On the right: C.10.V.2
    C.P. 11612
    R.H.

    Please ID meanng of above. Any help on value would be appreciated. Thanks.

    It's for a Curtiss R9 (both the R4 and R9 used the same model propeller) and was probably one of the many that were sold off as surplus in the early twenties.

    See this page and note the same design number (11612). "CP" prefix is for "Curtiss Propeller" and "RH" refers to "right hand", the direction of rotation that gives it forward thrust. For a discussion of value, see valuation.

      Thanks. It must have been surplus because it has the decals on either side, Westmoore and an address on Ada Street in Chicago. My mother had said that she was in the palne in 1921 but she is deceased (as is anyone who might know some details) and could never confirm.

      I am looking to sell it, so will take some pix and post later. Mikea
