  • Family Prop ID Help

We have a propeller mounted with a clock that has been in the family since we can remember. We do not know anything about the propeller and would love to find some information. The propeller has markings on the back:
    2680
    8-8x5.90
    P.P. 162 LH
    TYPE 4S-1
    Baltimore Maryland USA
    F.C.R.
There is a symbol on the back of the propeller as well, but we hung it up and did not take a picture of that.

Does anyone have any idea what this propeller came off of? My father-in-law always told us it was from a water aircraft in WWI, however we do not have any idea.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think that's a good bet. It's a Paragon propeller built by the American Propeller Manufacturing Company in Baltimore. (The "P.P." stands for "Paragon Propeller".)

I don't recognize the aircraft but a Google search might turn up something about "4S 1".

How thick is the hub? It may be half of a 4-blade combination.
