A note to let forumites and friends know that the first book in my series on German Aircraft props of WW1 is now available from my website.
http://www.aeroclocks.com/PrintedBoo...p_Industry.htm
We have taken note that the series on British WW1 aircraft props, which is now complete, was too expensive for some and in consequence the German series will have soft covers and a lighter grade of paper which reduces the price from around £40.00 GBP to £27.00 GBP. This makes the book lighter so the postage is therefore less as well.
This first book is an introduction to the subject. It describes the structure of early German aviation, lists the propeller designers and the process of manufacture including the Idflieg regulations. How to identify a German Propeller. It includes a number of rare documents, including:
The Propeller Merkbuch issued to units in the field which was a note book describing how to use, care and fit propellers.
The report of the Inter-Allied Control Commission into German propeller production during the war.
These two documents are shown in German and French respectively with translations to English. It became evident during my research that the German makers interviewed by the Allied Control Commission were able to mislead them considerably!
Also included is the British Admiralty forensic report into the propellers of all the airships shot down over Britain.
With kind regards,
Bob
