Hi,

It is a Hamilton wooden prop.
If you are able to send this prop in France, we would be interested to buy it: we have opened in Figeac (southwest of France) a small Ratier (a French propeller maker since 1910) museum***, and because Ratier bacame the property of Hamilton Standard in the late 90' (and now part of UTC Aerospace Systems), it would be very pleasant to show there an old Hamilton prop!

This being told, I am not in a position to advise you about a price! I leave this to Dave and others...

Brandon's prop is in excellent condition, and still has the hub attached to it. I'd love to see it end up in a museum in France! I don't know if it can be identified with respect to usage as to my knowledge there is no record of design numbers for the Hamilton Aero Manufacturing Company.

Prior to forming his own company, Thomas Hamilton produced propellers for the Matthews Brothers company in Milwaukee.

Hey Bob, I have also seen those type of hamilton decals on some vintage ground adjustable metal props from the 30s and 40s, they are a great graphic design indeed. That is the first time I have seen that style on a wooden prop. Maybe more information will surface.

I found that Hamilton Aero Manufacturing was established in 1920 and merged with Standard Steel in 1929, so I think those particular decals spanned only 9 years. Prior to forming his own company, Hamilton's name appeared prominently in the Matthews Bros. decals:



I'd love to see a listing of all Hamilton Aero Manufacturing propellers appear some time. I've looked all over (NASM, National Archives, etc.) and found nothing.

I hope to speak to the previous owner this week , as I found the prop because it was in a garage of an old house I purchased last year. Hope he can recall the whereabouts or the manner he acquired. I know his family owned house since 1920's.
