Hi folks
I've recently acquired an Avro prop for a Martinsyde G120.
I don't intend doing anything with it except to give it a coat of wax.
On the tips there is the fabric covering and what remains of the paint. however the paint is flaking off before my eyes, does anybody have any ideas on stabilising the paint.

Good question, and one I'd love to hear an authoritative answer for.

I have a similar prop and have considered trying to "preserve" it with linseed oil, but haven't had the nerve to proceed. Part of the "theory" is that the flaking involves an evaporative process to an oil based coating, but that's not to say that adding oil (which also has some adhesive properties, although mild at best) would actually help it.
