This quaintly named site describes the Gyro Engine Co and its factory in Washington.

Hi,
Bob, thank you for the follow up and for the pictures! What a prop!
I read your link about Gyro Co, and the Wikipedia page about Emile Berliner (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emile_Berliner
) where there is quite the same story, but there is another one there:
http://www.hydroretro.net/etudegh/mo...gnomeomega.pdf
***. At page 16, it is said that Gnome Engine Company sold licences of the rotary engine to some companies, including two American ones in 1911: The General Vehicule and Gyro-Motor (Emile Berliner). I search for that as engines on pictures on the page
http://www.curatorofshit.com/we-hope...washington-dc/
look very like Gnome engines.
I can't said who is right.
Regards,
PM
***By GĂ©rard Hartmann, from
http://www.hydroretro.net/etudegh/index.php
website, a very good one.
PS: As I don't believe you planted the prop in the lawn. So... how does it stands alone? Photoshop? But the shadow doesn't show anything ...

Bonjour Pierre-Michel,
In the original photograph it is held by the finger tips of Anne and her husband! And as you correctly guess they have been photo-shopped; and their shadows too.
I'm off to explore your links.
With kind regards,
Bob
