This was a prop and has, unfortunately, been converted into a Del boy esc Ice Bucket.
The details on the prop are as follows:No A 1659 260 HP FIAT D2900 P1730
That all the info from the prop.
Has anyone a brief history of where?when? and Was I would be very grateful.
This belongs to a dear friend who wants to sell it and wonders if it has value.
What ever the out come I shall print the info out for her to read.\

Your prop hub dates from c1918.

A1659 indicates a prop designed by Vickers for the 260hp FIAT engine that was used in a small number of DH4 and DH9 aircraft as a stopgap because the intended Rolls Royce engines could not be built in sufficient numbers and the theoretical second choice, the Siddeley Puma engine, was unreliable when introduced into service.

The manufacture of artefacts made of props became a short lived industry after WW1. They are collectable today and your friend's is worth about 80 GBP (about 130 USD) if offered at auction in the UK.

Incredible really to think about that props history.
I also want to point out that only on the internet would one find a forum that has an interest in wooden props.
If only we could all get together for a drink and a meal?
