  • Help Identifying / Learning more about wooden prop

My Dad salvaged this prop out of his grandfathers garage in the 1970s. That was in Dublin, Ireland. I know that my great-grandfather had lived in Belgium prior to Ireland.

Prop Dimensions: 108" long, 10.5" width blade, 8" diameter hub, with eight peripheral holes.

    Markings read as follow:

    GI238N 46
    710C LP RH
    D2740 P2360
    Mono Gnome

Any information that could be provided would be very interesting as both my Dad and I are aviation enthusiasts.

    Best,

    Peter

LP 710C is listed as a Lang Propeller ("LP") drawing and was used on the AVRO 504A, J&K, Pup, and DH5 aircraft. "Mono Gnome" refers to the engine, the 100 HP Gnome Monosoupape, although that propeller could also fit a LeRhone engine.

      Peter,

The batch number G1238 suggests that the prop was made in March 1919 which in turn suggests that it was made for the Avro 504.

      With kind regards,
