Does anyone have a resource on fabric covering propeller tips? I am making a replica propeller and would like to fabric cover the outer section.
Thanks!!
I've only done it for decorative purposes, and all I did was glue canvas onto the front and back then glue a 1"strip of canvas along the seam over the leading and trailing edges, but if you want to go airworthy mode I'd try contacting someone like Chad Wille at St. Croix Propellers.
If it's of WW1 vintage, use Irish linen. This can be found on ebay as used Irish linen bed sheets or pillow cases. It can be bent around the tip of the prop without wrinkling or creasing and then doped.
And thanks for reminding me that i need to start hunting for some more. I am down to about one prop.
So, wrap, trim and glue(dope) onto the prop with re-inforcing tapes on the leading and trailing edges? Varnish/paint to follow I suppose. Any written instructions anyone know of?
Many thanks!
