  • Possibly a Sopwith or Bristol??? Pls Help ID

Just from looking at the pictures, I think I may have a Sopwith Pup or a Bristol F2B. It is a 8ft prop with 8 bolts around the hub. All of the bolts are stamped with the serial # 41B2329-12. The hub is stamped with an AN (with E376 below the AN), which is enclosed in a circle. The N letter is curved back towards the A. There is a smaller circle which appears to have the letters ARD in it with 017 below it enclosed in the circle. The R (or middle letter) is bigger than the first and last letter. Finally, there are three numbers stamped on the hub. Listing from top to bottom, they are: ASSEM. 41G2325, CONT. W33038AC1362, ARO SER.NO. 25384. I left my camera at home and will enclose a picture later. It looks to be Maple with red tips, pretty heavy. Any help in IDing the prop is greatly appreciated. On a side note, I found the prop in Lubbock, TX when i was a student pilot at Reese AFB twenty years ago. It only cost $180.

It's very unlikely that it's for either of those planes, based on your description. I'd have to research some numbers, but will wait until you have the photos.

It's certainly not from a British engine and probably not from a British aircraft.
