i have a propeller and i would like some info on.
it has copper or brass tips,it is 8'4" long, 4" thick
the center about 2 5/8",there are 8, 3/8"holes around the center hole
on the left side of the center there are the letters and numbers in three rows
SC11458
then what looks like a four leaf clover with no stem

on the right side of the center are the numbers 1457, on one line
behind that,going up and down, are 8'-4" D-5'-0"P
i think it is german
i picked it up in 1973,to hang on the wall in our gameroom. my dad was in the
air force from 48 to 52, he loved it. he cleaned it, and put a clear coat of
something on it. he just sold his house, so now i have the prop in my gameroom. but, when he cleaned it, the german swastika, the eagle standing
it, was gone. he said, no american would have that symbol in their house.

It's not German. The markings and the clover stamp are all typical of U.S. built propellers, and the "SC" in the SC11458 stands for "Signal Corps". The diameter and pitch are stamped in feet/inches rather than millimeters, which would be typical for a European built propeller.

The sizes you give suggest that it was either used on a Curtiss OX5 engine or possibly a Hall Scott A7A. You could eliminate one of those by measuring the bolt hole circle diameter and comparing the hub dimensions to those listed on this chart.
