I have inherited a single blade from a Bristol Fighter that my Grandfather mounted as an umbrella stand. The plaque says "Propellor from BRISTOL FIGHTER PENSHURST"
My Grandfather was Ground Crew at Biggin Hill from 1917 to 1921 and his trade was Corporal Fitter Aero and he was an engine specialist.
Penshurst was a diversionary for Biggin Hill.
The blade is 48" from the tip to the stand it is mounted on, there is no boss and it may have been cut above the blade-to-hub joint.
I think this is Right Handed as the aerofoil is thicker on the right hand side when facing towards the tail of the aircraft.
Can anyone confirn the handedness and give an opinion as to the engine it might have been designed for (yes, I know that there were 7 engines used and 50% were left-handed!)
