I have a question on the servicemen who made damaged wooden propellers as gifts or keepsakes. I'm taking about sections of props or hubs made into photo frames, clocks even walking sticks.
My old propeller clock was possibly made in the 1920's. I have only come to this conclusion because of the design of the RAAF wings that are attached and its patina.
Anyway, Someone said that was probably made from a damaged prop by a service man and gifted to his Family. Would this be feasible with the wood combination and size of it? The measurements are 91cm tip to tip (almost 36 inches) Depth is 8cm(3inch) and Height is 13cm (5 inch). As you can see the hub was never a hub.
I would be interested on anyone's views on this and the subject.
