  • Refinishing help please

I need help. My partner was given a wooden propellor by his grandad, it is lovely but he did want it to be 'restored' then hung on the wall in our new house. I am trying to achieve this for his 40th birthday gift hence coming to this site. Now, after reading your comments, I am not sure we are doing the correct thing. I need help and advice??

    Anyone?

The best thing is not to restore it. If your partner wants a new prop they are quite easy to find. Persuade him to put off restoring it on the grounds that he can always do it in the future, but you can't ever undo a restoration and return to originality. For most of us the value lies in the originality.

    Good Luck

      Propeller Restoration

Hi - It would be best if you could post a picture, so we could see the condition of the prop. The word "restoration" always frightens me!

Without seeing the actual item - I would not recomend anything more than a wipe with a damp cloth.

Remember anything old SHOULD NOT LOOK NEW!

Please - IF IN DOUBT - DO NOTHING!
